Sunderland Housing Secure With Videx - 28/04/2004

One of the North-East's largest social housing providers is continuing to use and install Videx door entry systems into its properties three years after transferring from local authority control.  They are very pleased with the value for money presented by the Videx equipment's capabilities as well as the company's after sales service and back up.

Sunderland Housing Group's Electrical Services Department has in fact installed various Videx audio and non-coax video door entry systems in low rise family accommodation and a number of sheltered housing schemes.  Systems are also used to protect staff from attack in half a dozen of its estate offices.

The Maintenance Coordinator for Electrical Services, Mr Kevin Cook, comments: "We began using Videx equipment quite a few years ago when we were still part of the council.  The systems are easy to install while the technical back up we get is good and the training is ideal."

In the majority of cases Videx equipment has been installed within four to six block maisonettes where there is a communal area with a main entrance door.  Residents can speak to and view the caller before allowing them entrance to the stairway, and then let them in through their own front door.

Videx  products have also been used on the safety interlock doors and the escape doors of the cash areas at six of the local housing offices where there could  be risk of attack.  There are plans to upgrade all of the offices in due course.

Sunderland Housing is now also considering using more Videx non- coax Video Door Entry for some future projects.  To this end the Electrical Services department recently demonstrated Videx products during an exhibition at The Stadium of Light, home of Sunderland F.C.
